Finding Your Purpose

There have been a million books written on the subject, many of us believe we've discovered it, and God has actually revealed to a few of us what it is. PURPOSE! If you know what yours is and are on the path to fulfilling it, GLORY TO GOD and gone girl!!!! Personally I prayed on this for awhile and wasn't sure exactly how I would know what my purpose was or if it had been revealed. Honestly, I didn't think I ever really had special interest in anything, that God had not given me any gifts, and I was just...kinda...here. But the more I sought God and prayed, He begin to reveal my purpose to me and He will reveal yours to you too!

For some of us, it is hard to imagine God creating a world so big and giving everything a purpose but you feel like you are just going through the day-in /day-out routine of life. Children, work, school, church, family, and making the best of all of the above. Sometimes so tired that you can barely function and praying, "Lord, give me strength to make it another day!" Sis, there is so much more to life than that!!!! God has a special purpose for you that will bring meaning, fulfillment, and satisfaction to your life.. things only available when we are obedient to Him. I've talked to quite a few people that actually believed they knew what their purpose was, they knew what God had called them to do and they were on it, honey! But are you fulfilling your purpose as God ordered and is that really the purpose He created you for or is it what you want to do and enjoy doing? God says in His word (and you will see me quote this verse often) that He knows the plans He has for you, plans to prosper and give you hope for a future! (Jeremiah 29:11) Well that plan that He has for you includes your purpose.

Let's break down our purpose. It's important to understand each step:

1.) Your purpose as a Human.
Man was created in God's image not only to oversee all of God's other creations but also to bring God
glory. God's ultimate purpose for all of us is that He would be glorified (1 Corinthians 10:31) and that
the gospel and God's kingdom would be advanced (Genesis 50:20, Philippians 1:12, Colossians 1:20,
      2 Corinthians 5:5)
2.) Your purpose as a Christian.
As a Christian, our purpose is to go into the world and preach the good news to all. This is evident in the
New Testament as we see Jesus, the disciples, Paul, and others relentlessly spreading the gospel.
(Mark 16:15) Secondly, as Christians, we are to deny ourselves and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23). In doing
so, it is our duty to do those things that Jesus did; pray for others, love others, and serve.
3.) Your purpose as a Woman.
Genesis 2:18 explains that God said it was not good for man to be alone so He created a helper
suitable for him. Yes, honey, you were created as a help-meet for man. I've heard before that as God
created man to lead, woman is created to manage. Secondly, the woman was created to be fruitful. We
will get deeper into the purpose of a woman later but just to scratch the surface it doesn't get any clearer
      than Genesis.
4.) Your purpose as YOU!
This is your individual fingerprint. This is what God has specifically called you to do, given you gifts to
accomplish, and made provisions for you to complete.  This includes the daily responsibilities you have.
God always equips us to do what he calls us to do. (Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11,
Ephesians 4:11-13). I'm sure we will get to talk more in-depth about our gifts as well later.

Ok, so how do we find our individual purpose? Well this is accomplished by carefully studying the word and seeking God. (Psalm 119:105, James 1:5). It is also beneficial to talk to a spiritual leader, someone you trust. Maybe they can pray with you or give you direction. Where there is no counsel, purposes are frustrated, but with many counselors they are accomplished. (Proverbs 15: 22) You will know that you have found your purpose when you find peace. God is not a God of confusion so when we are operating in His will and according to the purpose He has for us, things will begin to fall into place, your steps will align, and even on the bad days you'll feel a sense of comfort knowing that you are doing those things God has ordered. (Isaiah 32:17). I would suggest reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren if you haven't. It is an amazing source of direction.

I love you!

Daily Prayer: God please reveal your purpose for my life. I want to be in Your will and bring you glory. I know that you will give me the desires of my heart if they align with Your will. Lord, help me to be all it is that you created me to be.
Scripture to Study: Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand. Proverbs 19: 21
